Welcome to Nortel Networks Kidz Online, a powerful education tool designed to help both teachers and students with their technology needs. That sounds promising, but just a wee bit boring, right?

WRONG!

NNKOL is anything but boring - it's the full package. It has exciting shows for teens, including narrative education on KTK Live and interviews about careers in technology on Streaming Futures. It has Learning Resources (a fancy name for lesson plans) based on every video to help teachers bring fun and life into the class room. This site also has a channel called Teach IT designed to help teachers learn technology at their own pace in a relaxing and entertaining environment. Every unit we cover, from Digital Imagery to Web Page Creation, has a little something for everyone.

Did we mention that it's FREE?

How does that work?
Our Education Advisory Board has worked very hard to map out a curriculum outline of units that will be covered by the various channels here at Nortel Networks Kidz Online. Examples of units include: Utilizing the Internet, Web Page Creation, Web Design, Digital Imagery, Power Point as a Multimedia Interface and many others. A full list of currently scheduled units and corresponding videos, is up on our production schedule.

Every channel covers the individual units in a unique way.

For example, for the Digital Imagery unit, you might see:

KTK Live! KtK Live! is our signature show. It allows both kids and adults to learn without even realizing that they're learning. For digital imagery, this channel features Get Connected, a high school romance saga that is made and broken on the back of digital cameras and the Internet.
Streaming Futures Streaming Futures is all about finding a great career in technology. In line with the digital imagery unit, Joel (your host) went off to California to interview some very influential folks in the field.
gURL Tech Not enough girls get into technology. gURL Tech takes topics that girls dig and expand those topics to include technology. Watch as Antonia and crew talk to top fashion designers about how they use digital imagery.
Technology In Action Technology in Action is a channel for teachers and students to showcase some of their own best work. Students in Arlington, Virginia submitted several videos all about their favorite uses of digital imagery. They even included step-by-step directions so that you can recreate these great projects!
Teach IT Teachers...you didn't think we'd leave you out in the cold did you? Of course not! The only way a teacher can feel confidant to teach a brand new subject is if that teacher has an opportunity to learn the needed skills. For digital imagery, Teach IT will have said project. Each project includes a project overview, individual skill videos (so you only watch the ones for the skills you need) and a sample project for you to give to your kids.
